A Message From Rick Blanchet

At different times in our lives, we all need a new perspective. I received a new perspective in 2005 when I volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati . What an organization! I’m a passionate “Big,” currently matched with a terrific young man named Wesley. (The photo is from the day we met) BBBS make meaningful matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”) in our Tri-State Communities. What is amazing is all of these “Littles” have raised their hand and said “I’m ready for my future, can someone just help me get there?” Think back to when you were little, and a time that someone other than a parent made you feel special. Mentoring allows us to help these “Littles” discover their uniqueness, to feel special and important. Mentors allow “Littles” to see possibilities and reach their full potential. Help them learn life skills that will help them thrive in childhood and into adulthood. That is what life is about…giving a piece of yourself to someone. Letting the “Littles” know you’re going to be there for them. When you donate money to BBBS it allows us to serve that one more child, to have one more mentor be placed with one more child and change one more life. My goal is to raise $1200—which is the cost to make and support one new match—because I want to help create another match and make a difference in the life of a new Big and Little.

In Support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati
We create life-changing friendships by matching adult mentors with  at-risk Tri-State children in need of positive role models.  We partner with parents and guardians, volunteers and others in the community, and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program. Statistics show these Little Brothers and Sisters have higher aspirations, greater confidence, do better in school and avoid risky behaviors.
