A Message From Kathy Buechel

I am Kathy Buechel and have been part of BBBS for 2 years. My little sister was in 2nd grade at the time we first met. I am a lunch buddie so we meet for lunch at her school each week. We have gotten to know each other by sharing our interests, playing UNO, drawing, playing Pictionary and just having fun. When we first met, she needed some help with reading. So some of our time together was spent working on comprehension and vocabulary. I am so proud of her for consistently improving over the last 2 years. I have so enjoyed being part of BBBS. There are so many kids that just need some one/on/one time just to have someone to listen to them. I am hoping to raise funds to help support a new match.

We create life-changing friendships by matching adult mentors with  at-risk Tri-State children in need of positive role models.  We partner with parents and guardians, volunteers and others in the community, and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program. Statistics show these Little Brothers and Sisters have higher aspirations, greater confidence, do better in school and avoid risky behaviors.
